Walid Said qualifies for Hamburg World Boxing Championships

CAIRO – 23 June 2017 :National team boxer Walid Said Mohamed qualified on Thursday for the AIBA World Boxing Championship in Hamburg, Germany. Mohamed qualified after defeating Kenyan boxer Mathenge Blackmoses Morenoo in the 69 kilogram division, reaching the semifinals of the African Boxing Championship in Congo Brazzaville, which is being held from June 17-25.

Yousri Rizk also qualified on the same day for the World Cup after reaching the semifinals of the African Championships. He defeated Seychelles boxer Evan Agnes Keddy in the quarterfinals in the 91+ kilogram division, according to the AIBA website.

Walid and Rizk joined the three other Egyptians who have managed to qualify for the championship through the African competition.
Hisham Abdel Aal Yahya (60kg), Islam El Gendi (64kg), Walid Said (69kg), Hosam Bakr Abdin (75kg) and Yousri Rizk (91kg), all competed in the African Championship, and only Yahya failed to qualify.
