Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly SC president, is in talks in order to allow Al-Ahly Sporting Club to play at Cairo Stadium against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly’s official website announced on Sunday that El Khatib is holding talks with Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Amr El Genainy, President of the Egyptian Football Association, in order for Al Ahly to play the first leg of the quarter finals in the CAF Champions League at Cairo Stadium.

Al Ahly is set to meet South African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, on February 29 after qualifying second in the group stages of the Round of 16.

Al Ahly’s President wants to change the match’s venue from Al Salam Stadium to Cairo Stadium in order to increase the number of Al Ahly supporters as the match is considered to be of great importance.

Al Ahly will seek revenge in their upcoming match against Sundowns after being knocked out by the South African club last year in the same tournament with an aggregate result of 5-1 to the South Africans.
