CAIRO –19 June 2017: In the third day of the Confederations Cup, held in Russia from June 19 to July 2, World Cup champions Germany will go head to head with Australia on Monday at 5 p.m. Egyptian time in the Olimiyskiy Stadium.

Garmany manager Joachim Löw chose to play the tournament with a mostly youth squad in order to let them gain more experience and choose a couple of players that could play in the first team in the future. The German squad saw the absence of first team players including Mats Hummels, Thomas Mueller, Mesut Ozil, Jerome Boateng and Toni Kroos.

Julian Draxler, a 23-year-old attacking midfielder, was chosen as the captain of the German team and he is expected to lead the team along with a few other senior players, including Shukran Mustafi, Emre Can and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Australian national team manager Ange Postecoglou did not make many changes to his squad, as he aims to reach the advanced stages of the tournament. Team captains Mike Jedinek and Tim Cahill will be leading the Australian national team in the tournament.

On the second day of the tournament, Portugal had a 2-2 draw against Mexico in group A while Chile opened their tournament with a 2-0 victory against African champion Cameroon.
