Egypt team arrives in S. Korea for Taekwondo Championships

CAIRO - 16 June 2017: The Egyptian national taekwondo team arrived in South Korea Friday in preparation for the World Taekwondo Championships, which will take place at Muju June 24-30, Super Kora reported.

Egypt will participate in the men’s competitions with seven competitors: Moaz Nabil (under 54kg), Mohamed Farag (under 58kg), Yousef Ali (under 63kg), Abdel Rahman Wael (under 68kg), Seif Essa (under 74kg), Salah Khairy (under 80kg) and Mohamed Ayman (over 87kg).

Egypt will also join the women’s events with six competitors: the winner of the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 Hedaya Malak (under 57kg), Radwa Abdel Qader (under 53kg), Rawan Refae (under 62kg), Maysoon Farouk (under 73kg), Habiba Mansour (under 46kg) and Nour Abdel Salam (under 49kg).

The Muju World Championships will include 973 athletes from 183 countries. There will be eight weight divisions each for men and women and 64 medals for the winners, one gold, one silver and two bronze medals for each weight division, according to the 2017 World Taekwondo official website.
