CAIRO, 17July 2019: Hazem Imam, former member of Egyptian Football Association, has blamed Egypt’s right-back Ahmed Elmohammady, for dealing wrongly with the fans during the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Ahmed Elmohmmady has scored two goals in the group stages before failing to help Egypt to qualify from the 16th round. Egypt knocked-out against South Africa in the 2019 AFCON.

"As a player, of course you are upset by the fans’ criticism in the stadium and I know that every player has a certain capacity; there are some players who cannot afford that," Hazem Emam said.

“Elmohammady knows that he has made a mistake, no player can stand against the fans,” Hazem continued.

“When I was player at Zamalek, the fans asked me to stop playing; I thanked them then. I didn’t tell them to stop talking,” Hazem concluded.

Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida sacked the Egyptian national team coaching staff after the elimination.

Abo Rida, as well as many board members, resigned from their position.
The Egyptian players let down the fans who packed the Cairo Stadium to support the team.
