CAIRO – 29 January 2019: Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, defended Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, who has been accused of diving inside the box to win penalties.

Fowler believes that Salah has been targeted for where he comes from.

“We have to be very careful as football fans. We need to stop and think about whether Salah is being targeted for where he comes from and who he is.” Fowler wrote for The Mirror.

Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 summer from AS Roma and since then he has been a key player at Liverpool squad.

Fowler added “Why it’s been much worse than that aimed at Harry Kane this season.”

Salah won three of Liverpool’s last four penalties and converted all of them to goals after he became Liverpool’s first choice penalty taker.
Salah also tried to win a penalty during Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace and the referee denied it.

Liverpool are leading the Premier League table with 57 points, four points ahead of the second placed and the defending champions, Manchester City.
