CAIRO –29 November 2018: Al-Ahly's football director, Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, flies to Germany on Thursday to hold a meeting with the Reds' president Mahmoud Al-Khatib, in preparation for announcing the name of the new coach who will succeed former French coach Patrice Carteron.

Al-Ahly board, led by Khatib, sacked Carteron on Thursday after the team was eliminated from the Arab club champions cup round of 16 following a 1-1 draw to Emirati club, Al-Wasl.

The team earlier lost the CAF Champions League title after a 3-0 loss to Tunisian giants, Esperance, despite achieving a 3-1 victory at the first leg.

Al-Khatib and Abdel-hafiz are set to reach an agreement with the new coach in the expected meeting in Germany and finalize all the terms. The new coach is set to arrive after Petrojet game in the Egyptian league scheduled on Saturday.

Al-Ahly officials were negotiating a number of coaches, although they settled on three names, including the German Felix Magath and the Uruguayan Cariniu.
