CAIRO – 30 July 2018: Al-Ahly Malian defender, Salif Coulibaly, believes that his teammates’ support is the main reason behind his quick adaptation with the club he joined last summer.

“Al-Ahly is a big team and helps every player to shine. I feel comfortable inside the club despite joining the club a few weeks earlier,” Coulibaly told press on Monday.

Coulibaly established himself as Al-Ahly’s starting defender and he led the club to return to the right track at the CAF Champions League.
The defender had a fantastic debut with the team in their 3-0 victory at home over Botswana’s Township Rollers and he scored the winning goal at his second game in Botswana.

“The players and the coaching staff praised me after my first goal which was amazing,” Coulibaly added.

Al-Ahly plays in Group A alongside Botswana’s Township Rollers F.C., Uganda’s Kampala City and Tunisia’s Espérance.

Al-Ahly is in the second position with seven points, three points behind group leaders, Espérance.

Coulibaly continued: “We are able to achieve the Champions League title this season with this group of players. I achieved the title in 2015 with my former club, Mazembe, and I hope to do it again this season.”
