CAIRO – 11 July 2018: Egypt’s Sara Samir and Esraa el-Sayed clinched Gold in the IWF Junior World Championships in the women’s 69 kg snatch.

The IWF Junior World Championships, held at the Uzbekistan Sport Complex in Tashkent, kicked off on July 7 and will run until July 14.

Six Egyptian players feature in this version of the championships, including Ahmed Kamel, Ahmed Ashour, Osama el-Garhy, Mohamed Hesham, and the champions, Sara Samir and Esraa el-Sayed.

Sara Samir, national weightlifting champion, won the 69 kg clean and jerk gold medal.

She also managed to win gold in 69 kg snatch and silver in 63 kg clean and jerk.

Esraa el-Sayed won the gold medal, followed by Tunisia’s Ghofrane Belkhir and Uzbekistan’s Fayzullaeva Kumushkhon. The three lifters registered the same weight lifted, so the rankings were judged by the order of who performed the lift better.

The men’s categories in the competition are 56 kg, 62 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 8 5kg, 94 kg, 105 kg and over-105 kg.

Women, on the other hand, will compete at 48 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 90 kg and over-90 kg.
