CAIRO – 3 May 2018: The EHF Champions League draw, held on Wednesday in Cologne, Germany, put France’s Montpellier against Macedonia’s Vardar in the Champions League semi-finals, set to take place on May 26.

Montpellier’s Egyptian Pivot, Mohamed Hashem, who played a great role in his team’s achievement, will be the first Egyptian to play at the Champions League semi-finals.
Montpellier defeated Germany’s SG Flensburg-Handewitt 57-45 on aggregate in the EHF Champions League quarter finals to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2005.

Montpellier players hope to win their second title after they won the 2003 title, defeating Spain’s San Antonio at the final.

Montpellier have a difficult mission as they will face the defending champions, Vardar, who defeated Paris Saint-Germain 24-23 in the 2017 final to win their first title.

Paris Saint-Germain will face fellow French side HBC Nantes in the first semi-final on May 26.

Germany’s Cologne will host the EHF Champions League semi-finals on May 26 and the final on May 27.
