CAIRO – 10 April 2018: Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, revealed on Tuesday that he tried to sign Italian international player, Francesco Totti from AS Roma in 2006 but the Italian refused to leave his club.

“Totti is one of the legends that everyone wanted to sign. Before 2006, I called him and asked him if he would come to Real. But he told me that he couldn't leave Roma," Perez told press on Tuesday.

Totti spent his whole career at his childhood club, Roma; he turned down all the attempts of the best European clubs to sign him.

Perez praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick at Real’s 3-0 victory over Juventus at the UEFA Champions League quarter finals first leg in Turin, Italy.

“Ronaldo's goal was one of the most beautiful in football history, a wonderful goal by the best player in the world,” Perez said.

Ronaldo received applaud from Juventus fans after the goal and Perez believes that Juventus fans’ reaction was great.

Perez said, “What happened there was very exciting and shows the greatness of Juventus and their fans."
