CAIRO – 3 April 2018: Ilkay Gundogan will face his former manager from Borussia Dortmund and current Liverpool manager on Wednesday when Liverpool host Manchester City at the UEFA Champions League quarter finals. Manchester City midfielder, Gundogan, believes that Liverpool manager, Klopp Jürgen, will prepare his players well for the game.

“Jürgen is a terrific coach and he’s capable of motivating his team ahead of every game. He’s a top guy who knows how to deal with his players, how to treat them and how to motivate them,” Gundogan told Manchester City official website.

Klopp signed Gundogan in 2011 from FC Nürnberg, which at the time was a massive step for Gundogan and had a big impact on his career.

Gundogan recalled his first days with Dortmund; he narrated “I struggled during my first six months to find my place there. But thanks to the help of my team-mates, and with the help of Jürgen and his staff, too, I managed to improve.”

Gundogan spent four days working under Klopp’s command, and together they achieved the German League title in 2012 and reached the UEFA Champions League finals the next year.

Manchester City have lost only one game at the league this season, where Liverpool won the match with a score of 4-3. Gundogan scored Man City’s third goal at that game.
