CAIRO – 21 March 2018: Uruguay’s national team arrived in China on Tuesday to participate at China Cup International Football Championship that will be held between March 22 and 26 in Nanning.

Uruguay will play two friendly games to prepare for their participation at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Uruguay will face the Czech Republic on Friday while Wales will face the host, China, on Thursday.

The winners will meet each other at the final on Monday while the losers will play for the third-place play off earlier on Monday.

Uruguay are the only national team in the friendly competition that qualified to the 2018 World Cup.

Uruguay travelled to China with their full squad led by their historic manager, Oscar Tabarez, and a group of football stars like Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin.

Tabarez , who led the Uruguayan national team to the semifinals in 2010 World Cup in South Africa, will watch his players during the games to decide the final squad that will participate in the World Cup.

The World Cup draw put Uruguay in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the host nation, Russia.

Uruguay open their participation at the World Cup against Egypt on June 15 before meeting Saudi Arabia on June 20. Uruguay will end their group stage games against the host nation, Russia on June 25.
