CAIRO – 15 February 2018: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his team’s performance that led them to a 5-0 victory over Porto in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

“For tonight, we did the right things and we scored fantastic goals at the right time, so we won the game,” Klopp told press after the game.

Sadio Mane opened the score for his team after 25 minutes, and then Mohamed Salah doubled the score four minutes later.

Liverpool scored another three goals during the second half, one goal by Roberto Firmino and two goals by Mane, to win the game 5-0.

Salah’s goal made him the 13th player in Liverpool’s history to score 30 goals in one season and he received applauds from his manager.

“Congratulations, but hopefully he [Salah] will not stop. He played a good season and I think each goal was kind of a winner, and that’s very important,” Klopp added.

Klopp also praised Sadio Mane’s performance after a tough period, saying, “He gave the right answer. I said to him after the last game, ‘finally you’re back,’ immediately after we talked on the pitch. He showed it again tonight; what a fantastic player he is.”

Liverpool will host Porto on March 6 to secure their qualification for the quarter finals for the first time since 2009.
