CAIRO – 27 December 2017: Atlético Madrid’s Luciano Vietto will start at Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon in January as a loan, according to the Portuguese sports newspaper "A Bola."

The transfer is practically closed, according to the newspaper, thanks to an assignment agreement until the end of the season for €10 million.

Vietto, who hardly counts for Simeone, has played ten matches this season (six in the League, two in the Champions League and two in the Copa del Rey) and has not scored any goals.

Vietto, who initially played in the Argentine academy of Estudiantes (Argentinean club) which later transferred him to Racing de Avellaneda, arrived in Spain in 2014, after being signed by Villarreal, where he scored 20 goals and gave 8 assists in 48 games.

The following year, he signed for Atlético Madrid and last season, he played on loan at Sevilla.

The 24-year-old could serve as a second striker to accompany Dutch striker Bast Dost, the Portuguese club’s leading scorer.
