CAIRO – 30 November 2017 : Tottenham Hotspur’s Argentinean winger, Erik Lamela returned to his team, which was the only good news for Tottenham on Tuesday, when they lost 2-1 against Leicester City in the Premier League. Lamela has been suffering from a hip injury for more than a year.

“Of course, in really bad times you always think the worst, but I am here today because I really wanted it and when you really want something you can do it,” Lamela told press on Wednesday.

Lamela, 25, recovers from a hip injury since 25 October 2016, when Tottenham lost against Liverpool in the League Cup.

When he was asked about his long recovery period, Lamela replied, “I had two surgeries in one month and a half, it was crazy, it was probably the worst time of my life. I really wanted to play but it took too long.”

Lamela joined Tottenham in 2013 from Italy’s Roma for $34.65 million. He was the most expensive player in the club’s history at the time.

The player thanked his team for their support during the last year; “The manager and all the staff honestly were amazing. They were always with me, behind me.”

Lamela provided an assist to his teammate Harry Kane who scored Tottenham’s only goal in the game against Leicester, which indicates that the Argentinean winger is back on the right track.
