CAIRO – 16 November 2017: Confederation of African Football (CAF ) announced on Thursday that Amr Mourad Fahmy is the new CAF general-secretary.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad recommended Fahmy to the executive committee and they approved to name Fahmy in the position during their meeting on Thursday in Morocco.

Amr Fahmy, 34, is Mostafa Fahmy’s son who served in the same position for 28 years. Amr succeeded Hicham El Amrani from Morocco who served in this position from October 2010 to March 2017 and resigned without giving reasons.

Fahmy, who holds a FIFA Master’s in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, has great experience from working in CAF. He served at France-based Lagardère Sports as director of operations for Africa and he worked with the CAF Competitions Division between 2007 and 2015 and he served as tournament director for the flagship competition, Africa Cup of Nations.

Amr Fahmy’s father, Mostafa Fahmy, is a candidate for the vice president of Al-Ahly club.
