CAIRO – 10 November 2017 : Senegal has secured their qualification to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they defeated South Africa 2-0 on Friday night in Peter Mokaba Stadium in South Africa.

Senegal started the game well, as Diafra Sakho scored the first goal only 13 minutes from the start after a great pass from Sadio Mane.

South Africa’s players tried to return to the game, but all their chances were saved by Senegalese goalkeeper Khadim N'Diaye.

Senegal doubled the score minutes before the first half final whistle through a goal from South African defender Thamsanqa Mkhize who failed to control the ball well and scored into his team’s own net.

Senegal, after this victory, secured their qualification to the World Cup, as they lead their group with 11 points, 6 points ahead of the second placed team, Burkina Faso.

Senegal qualified to the World Cup for the second time in their history, and Senegalese players hope to repeat their achievement in their first participation in 2002 in South Korea and Japan, when they reached the quarter-finals.
