CAIRO – 9 November 2017: Arsenal’s German attacking midfielder, Mesut Ozil, made a bid in a request to change his number in Arsenal and renew his contract with the club, according to The Sun.

Ozil wears number 11 for Arsenal. He wants to change his number to 10, which is already taken by his teammate Jack Wilshire. Wilshere inherited the number from Arsenal’s former Dutch, Robin Van Persie, who left the club in 2012.

Ozil wears number 10 on the German national team following the retirement of former German international player Lukas Podolski.

Ozil never wore number 10 during his career with clubs except in his last three years with Real Madrid. Ozil wore number 17 with Shalke for two years, number 11 with Werden Bremen for four years and number 23 during his first year with Real Madrid.

Ozil’s contract with Arsenal runs out at the end of the season, and he is still negotiating with the club to renew his contract.
