CAIRO – 17 October 2017: Real Madrid will face Tottenham Hotspur in the strongest match of the first day of the Champions League's third round on Tuesday.

The 12 time title holder, Real Madrid, will host Tottenham Hotspur at Santiago Bernabeu at 8:45 p.m. (CLT).

The two teams \played and won two matches against two other teams in group H, where Real Madrid defeated APOEL Nicosia 3-0 in the first round, and Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the second round. Tottenham Hotspur beat Dortmund 3-1 in the first round and APOEL 3-0 in the second round, so with these results Madrid and the Spurs come in the same rank, with six points each and no goal difference between them.

In the history of Tottenham, they had faced Real Madrid four times, but never won any of the matches. The first time was on March 6, 1985 at UEFA Cup and ended with a 1-0 victory for Madrid, followed by a negative draw in the same year and month. The third and fourth times were at UEFA Champions League season 2010/2011, where the first leg match ended with a four goal victory for Madrid with no reply from Tottenham, and the second leg, at Tottenham’s stadium, also ended with the home team’s loss (1-0).
