CAIRO – 13 October 2017: Egypt women’s national volleyball team lost 3-0 on Friday against Kenya at the African Women’s Championship semifinals.

Egypt will miss participating at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan, as the two top teams in the competition will qualify to the tournament.

Kenya had a tough game against the Egyptian national team, winning the sets 25–23, 25–22 and 25–19, to end Egypt’s run in the tournament.

Egypt played in Group A alongside Botswana, Algeria and the host nation. Cameroon and Egypt won over Algeria and Botswana 3–0, but they placed second in the group after losing to Cameroon 3–1 to qualify to the semi-finals to play against Kenya.

On the other hand, Cameroon booked the second place in the final after beating Senegal 3–0 in front of Cameroonian fans to secure at least a place in the World Cup alongside Kenya.
