CAIRO – 12 October 2017: Al-Ahly returns to the Egyptian League to meet Al-Ittihad Al-Sakandry in the fifth round on Thursday at 20:00 C.L.T. in El-Salam Stadium. The team is working to win this match after it ended its match against Al-Jaish with a 1-1 draw.

Al-Ahly is missing four of their starring players: Ahmed al-Sheikh, Abdallah al-Saeed, Ahmed Fathy, and Ali Maaloul. Fathy and Maaloul are taking breaks after they participated with their national teams of Egypt & Tunisia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers while Abdallah al-Saeed suffered an injury in Etoile du Sahel’s clash in CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Al-Ahly’s Manager, Hossam al-Badry, is looking to secure the first three points by giving some players who were not featured in any match for a long time the chance to play.

Badry believes that winning this match and the next one, against al-Rajaa, will give his team a useful push before the clash against Etoile du Sahel on October 22 in the second leg of the semi-finals in the CAF Champions League.

On the other hand, Al-Ittihad Al-Sakandry`s manager, Hany Ramzy, is looking to achieve his first win against Al-Ahly after he faced the red giants four times, losing three times, and ending with a draw in a single match.

Al-Ahly placed 16th on the table of the Egyptian league with one point while Al-Ittihad Al-Sakandry placed ninth with six points after it played all its matches in the Egyptian League.

Egypt Today staff expects Al-Ahly`s line-up to be as follows: Sherif Ekramy (GK), Hussein al-Sayed, Mohamed Naguib, Saad Samir, Mohamed Hany, Amr al-Solia, Hossam Ashour, Saleh Gomaa, Ahmed Hamoudy, Junior Ajaye, and Walid Azaro.

Al-Ahly holds the record of winning the Egyptian League with 39 titles.
