CAIRO – 5 October 2017: German midfielder, Toni Kroos praised his former coach at Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, who had a great impact on him despite coaching him for only one year.

“I wouldn’t undervalue my year under Pep Guardiola because I think I made a big step forward in that year,” Kroos told press on Wednesday.

Shortly before Kroos left the club in 2015, Guardiola relied on him during his first year at Bayern Munich in 2014.
Kroos added, “Pep Guardiola saw me as a central player in his system, which my style of play fit into perfectly.”

The 27-year-old spoke about his decision to leave Bayern Munich to join Real Madrid saying, “In my eyes, my transfer [to Real Madrid] came at just the right time. When you move to a top team abroad and assert your position in the team, you’ve made another step forwards. It went pretty smoothly for me.”

Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2015 and since then he has became a regular player at Real Madrid’s midfield; winning two Champions League titles with the club in 2016 and 2017.
