CAIRO – 30 August 2017: Egypt achieved the silver medal in the mixed relay on Tuesday through Eslam Hamed and Haidy Adel at 2017 World Modern Pentathlon Championships held in Egypt.

The Egyptian dual achieved 1,381 points, only 10 points behind the gold medal winners, the German dual Ronja Steinborn and Alexander Nobis while the French dual Valentin Belaud and Julie Belhamri achieved the bronze medal with 1,370 points.

Haidy and Eslam’s silver medal was the second of its kind for Egypt after the Egyptian girls Mariam Amer and Sondos Abo Baker won the silver medal at the women’s relay, achieving 1,243 points, with 33 points behind the German dual, Annika Schleu and Lena Schoneborn.

It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian team of Ahmed Hamed, Yasser Hefny, Eslam Hamad, and Sherif Rashad won the men’s team gold medal on Saturday, with 3,163 points.

Egypt hosted the 2017 World Modern Pentathlon Championships from August 21-29 in 6th of October City, Cairo.
