CAIRO-24 August 2017: Uefa chooses Cristiano Ronaldo as Uefa Player of the year on Thursday during Champions League Group stage draw in Monaco, Ronaldo won the titles after having a great year with his club, Real Madrid.

“I'm so glad to be here, and honored to win this trophy again," Ronaldo spoke after receiving his award.

Ronaldo won this award for the third time after winning it in 2014 and 2016.

Ronaldo continued “Thank you to my team-mates and congratulations to them too. I'm so blessed, thanks also to the supporters of Real Madrid, and everyone who helped me to achieve this trophy."

Real Madrid dominated the awards after Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos named Uefa defender of the year, Luca Modric named Uefa midfielder of the year and Ronaldo received another award in the ceremony achieving Uefa forward of the year, while the only award outside Real Madrid player was Uefa Goalkeeper of the year won by Juventus goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon.


Ronaldo led his club to win 2017 Uefa Champions League scoring 12 goals as the best scorer in the competition.
