CAIRO – 14 August 2017 – The Egyptian national football team tied with Morocco 1-1 in the qualifiers for the 2018 African Nations Championship on Sunday.

The national team failed to win its first leg match against Morocco, letting the match end in a draw, with a single goal for each team, in the qualifying game for the Kenya 2018 African Nations Championship. This makes Egypt’s chances at qualifying more difficult, as Egypt now has no option but to win in the second leg, which will be played in Morocco on August 18.

Al Ahly attacking midfielder Ahmed El Sheikh started the scoring, as he scored Egypt’s goal in the 4th minute of the game from a penalty kick. The Egyptian team imposed its control over the first half, but the Moroccan team returned strongly in the second half to take the control, which quickly translated to a goal scored by Badr Banon in the 51st minute of the game.
