CAIRO – 12 August 2017: Aston Villa’s right wing back Ahmed El Mohamady featured in Aston Villa’s 3-0 lose against Cardiff City in the second fixture in the Championship on August 12.

Both teams entered the first half looking for a quick goal to secure the lead. It was not until minute 21 when Nathanial Mendez-Laing took the lead for Cardiff putting the Villains (Aston Villa) under the pressure to equalize before the end of the first half. However, Cardiff’s solid defense and talented goalkeeper kept the lead to Cardiff in the first half.

The second half began with Aston Villa looking to equalize the score, while Cardiff looked to secure the lead by adding another goal. After 15 minutes of the start of the second half, Junior Hoilett scored Cardiff’s second goal making it difficult for Aston Villa to come back to the game. Nathanial Mendez-Long was able to score his second goal and Cardiff’s third goal on minute 71 killing the hopes of the Villains to clinch a draw.

The Egyptian International right wing back El Mohamady was subbed on minute 30 after receiving a severe injury in his mouth after colliding with Cardiff's goalkeeper Neil Etheridge. As a result of this injury, El Mohamady is expected to miss Aston Villa's next match.

With this result, Aston Villa became in the 21st position with 1 point. On the other hand, Cardiff City came in first place with 6 points.
