CAIRO – 4 August 2017: Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s manager, spoke on August 3 about Qatari government funding to Paris Saint-Germain(PSG).

Speaking in the pre-match press conference against Chelsea on Thursday, Wenger made remarks about the prices for players in the transfer window. He also criticized the Qatari government’s funding of PSG in their latest transfer deal for Barcelona winger Neymar.

Wenger stated, “It is because of the ownerships; the whole landscape of football has changed completely,” as reported from the Express.

Wenger continued saying, "Once a country (Qatar) controls a club (PSG), everything is possible.”

Wenger added, “It becomes impossible to respect financial fair play. That’s why I always did plead for football to live on its own resources,” as reported from the Independent.

Wenger concluded saying, “We are not in a period anymore where you invest and expect to get the investment back. The numbers looks just like the inflation is accelerating,” citing from the Independent.

Neymar is on the verge of signing with PSG in a record deal of €222 million ($263.7 million).
