Cairo– 20 July 2017: Egypt will host the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship which will take place from August 16 to 26 on the covered halls complex of the Cairo international stadium with the participation of 12 countries.

The draw put Egypt in a quite difficult group, alongside Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Poland and Cuba. The Egyptian national team will be led by the 56-year-old Brazilian coach Marcos Miranda.

Miranda sees Egypt as a strong team which will compete vigorously as the team occupies the tenth place on the FIVB world ranking. “We are currently working with a focus on both the coaching staff and players; we have been training regularly for almost 40 days and we have only one goal, which is to reach the top six to enhance Egypt’s place in the world ranking,” Miranda said, according to the press release.

The Brazilian coach also expressed his happiness with Egypt hosting the World Championship because it will make a big difference for the players to play in their home country, among their fans. This home field advantage stems from the positive motivation to win every game.On the other hand Miranda said that Egypt has the ability to host major championships and events before its own people. “Egypt is really like Brazil, the people are very kind and adore the sport as well, I love them so much and I intend to spend my all vacations with my family here in Egypt,” Miranda added.
