CAIRO – 19 July 2017: Egypt’s Under-20 (U-20) Women’s Volleyball team faces the Dominican Republic on Wednesday in the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) U-20 Volleyball Championship in Mexico.

With their 3-0 loss against Italy on Tuesday, Egypt continued their negative run in the tournament; having lost all group stages matches against Mexico, Bulgaria and Russia.

Egypt plays in Group H alongside Italy, Dominican Republic and Cuba in placement matches to decide the 9 to 16 positions. Cuba and Egypt will go head to head on Thursday in the final Group H match.

Captain Nada Meawad is the best Egyptian player in the tournament as she has helped the team to score many points with her spikes and blocks.

Russia and Japan remain the unbeatable teams, having won their four games in the tournament to establish themselves as the first candidates to win the title.

The 2017 Women’s U-20 World Championship, held from July 14 to July 24, marks Mexico’s third time hosting the competition with previous stints in 1981 and 2009.
