CAIRO – 15 July 2017: On July 15, 2017, England won 2-1 over Portugal in the U-19 European Championship. It was title number 10 for England in the history of the competition. Both teams played to take the upper hand and to score the first goal, but despite their attempts, the first half ended scoreless.

England started the second half perfectly, as Easah Suliman scored England’s first goal only four minutes after the second half started. England players were searching for another goal to secure their win, but England defender Dujon Sterling failed to clear the ball from England’s area. His failure ended in a Portuguese goal equalizing the score.

England forward Lukas Nmecha scored their second and final goal. England continued their success in youth competitions this summer after winning the U-19 FIFA World Cup in South Korea. They reached the semifinal in the U-21 European Competition.

EURO U-21 was held in Georgia from July 2 through July 15. There were 8 European teams participating in the tournament, and England won the championship in the end.
