CAIRO – 3 November 2017: After 10 years have passed since the release of the first version iPhone 1 back in 2007, today iPhone X is set for release, which is why Egypt Today is taking a look at the evolution of iPhone over the past decade.
It all started back in January 2007, when Steve Jobs presented the world with “The iPhone,” in the Macworld conference in San Francisco. The device was released in June 2007 and stunned people as it was perceived technically as a computer that makes phone calls and can connect to the internet even if only through WiFi.
According to the telegraph Jobs claimed then that the device is “five years ahead of any other mobile phone.”

iPhone 3G came next, in June 9, 2008. Visually it wasn’t that different but there were many software upgrades. The back had become all plastic. The mobile also began using 3G networking and GPS services, in addition to supporting numeral third party applications, with a platform which would later turn into the Apple store we know today. The device was such a hit that it sold out online before it was even released in stores, according to the Telegraph.

The year after, iPhone 3GS was released, it looked almost identical to the iPhone 3G, but it was faster, and featured voice control which would later turn into the famous “Siri”.

In June 2010, iPhone 4 was introduced to the world, with a new smart look that was flatter, featured a glass back, aluminum sides and a front camera which would help in the revolutionized invention “Selfies”.

A year later in September 2012 a smaller, lighter and faster iPhone was released; the iPhone 5, with 4G speed and an aluminum back connected to the sides.

Like clockwork, by September 2013, Apple introduced not only one new device but two; the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S featured Touch ID which revolutionized privacy settings, and the camera was upgraded to include dual flash and became able of taking slow motion videos. iPhone 5C was distinguished for providing a variety of case colors.

Visually, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were not much different from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus but they introduced iOS9 which featured 3D Touch, a feature which allows you to give different commands to the touch screen according to the direction of touching. The iPhone 6S also featured “Live photos”. And for the first time iPhone became available in rose gold casing.

On the September 12 of this year, Apple had its press event in Cupertino, California, where it announced six new devices: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Apple Watch 3, Apple TV 4K and the Apple AirPower charger.

However, the iPhone X stole the scene spectacularly, to the extent that iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were the first iPhones people did not queue to buy when they were released back on September 22. Apple’s loyal customers faced a

dilemma

; do we buy the relatively affordable iPhone 8 and feel dissatisfied and left behind, or do we make a materialistic sacrifice in return of a futuristic luxury?

While iPhone 8 had a slightly different design than that of iPhone 7, iPhone X is distinguishably unique; the bottom button which has been a distinctive part of the iPhone since the beginning was finally gone as the screen now stretches to cover the whole front of the phone and the camera has been moved to the middle. Face recognition has been added for more privacy even though it seems to be facing some

difficulties

, in addition to the

many other software features

that were added to the device.
