Anxiety is a feeling of unease and fear that most of us experience. Though very common, it can be pretty tough and overwhelming at times. While it is normal to experience it occasionally, dealing with it excessively can affect your mental health and day-to-day activities drastically.

However, it is crucial to understand that having anxiety, to any extent is never a sign of weakness, and there are always several methods to cope with it, so let's delve into them together

1. Breathing exercises
The most common method to calm yourself down during an anxiety attack is the 4-7-8 technique which is one of the easiest breathing techniques you can practice to help you calm anxiety, start by breathing in for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds.

2. Identify what triggers you
Although different people experience anxiety for different reasons, there are certain common anxiety triggers that can start or worsen anxiety symptoms. You can control and lessen the effects of anxiety by being aware of what causes it and to try avoiding any situations that may trigger you.

3. Try a grounding technique
A grounding technique is an exercise that aids in managing intense emotions by focusing on the present moment and avoiding distressing thoughts, feelings, or memories. The technique involves identifying three visible, auditory, and physical aspects of oneself, and using these to focus and ground during overwhelming anxiety.

4. Stay physically active
Creating a weekly physical activity routine is a great stress reducer, it also improves your overall mood and maintains health. Start slowly and gradually increase activity intensity.
