As we grow up, our responsibilities increase and our carefree lives aren’t so carefree anymore. We learned how to balance the work/life aspect and became more independent and mature. Yet, some days pass by and we feel burned out, lazy, and not like we are bringing our A-game.
We blame ourselves for not being able to come up with creative ideas or be as productive as we promised ourselves to be. How do you overcome this feeling and see things in a different light?
1- Embrace your Laziness
Laziness is a part of human nature. We don’t have to feel guilty for not feeling like doing something. Not having an idea at the moment or not having the energy to perform well is a perfectly normal thing. Embrace your laziness and enjoy life. Don’t worry about upcoming tasks, the sun will rise, a new day will come and your energy will be recharged.
2- Don’t Rush Progress
It takes time to have something of quality. The hare won after all instead of the rabbit. This is a lesson we learned when we were kids: to bide our time and believe in ourselves. Progress takes time and when you rush in to make diamonds, they will crush pretty fast. If the tasks in hand aren’t top priority or need to be finished ASAP, then don’t burn yourself and waste your energy on something that can be done at an average pace.
3- Take Time to Restart
This might be a repetitive point but you need to recharge. You need to allow yourself to leave everything and just shut down like a hot computer that is desperate to be turned off to function.
4- Take Things Step by Step
Whatever field you’re in or even if you’re studying, always remember to not be overwhelmed by the quantity of work in front of you. Slow and steady wins the race, with that in mind, work your way up and start with the small things that are easily accomplished
5- Remember That Being Creative or Productive Depends on Your Mental State
Mental health always plays a big part in our lives, the less joy and excitement you have, the more careless you’ll become. Nothing is worth neglecting your mental health over. Art or work isn’t primarily made when someone is sad or feeling depressed, it’s also when we can see the joy and the positive side of the coin.
6- Seek Amusement and Find the Muse
If you’re studying or working, we are doing it for the sake of being better at it. If you chose a certain career or major to study, you made that choice out of the love of it and the excitement you get doing it. So, make things fun again. Remember the reasons why you decided to be here at this place today and look back at the idols that inspired you. Find a new muse, and have a more open-minded look at life.
