The Ministry of Environment described the place as a reserve for development of resources and a natural national impact, which is about 150 km away from Cairo.

The Wadi El Rayan area is distinguished by its integrated desert environment, sand dunes, natural water springs, and the diversity of different plant life, in addition to the diversity of wild animals and marine fossils.

The second area is the Oyoun al-Rayyan area, where visitors resort to for hospitalization, as it contains four natural sulfur springs, and it has a number of dense, moving longitudinal sand dunes, in which groups of desert plants grow up to 16 plants. You can also watch rare wild animals, including the white deer, the Egyptian deer, the fennec fox, the sand fox and the red fox, 16 species of reptiles and more than 100 species of resident and migratory birds.
