CAIRO – 8 October 2020: Alexandria Book Fair has been witnessing a great turnout since its inauguration by Egypt’s Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem on October 1. The book fair will run until October 10. 

 

The General Egyptian Book Organization has designated a wing to foreign books in various fields, for adults and children. The organization has also designated a booth for discounted books at the Alexandria Book Fair. Numerous books are displayed in the pavilion at prices less than LE 5.

 

A number of publishing houses at the book fair have launched the initiative:  buy two books and get the third for free. This comes within the framework of motivating the public to read.

 

The number of the fair visitors on Friday exceeded 2,100, and the sales amounted to LE 18,841, with a total of 1601 copies. More than 1,200 titles of the GEBO’s publications were sold on the first day, just two hours after the opening. 

 

The book fair is held on an area of ​​4,200 square meters, with the participation of 90 publishers, and various sectors of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. All the precautionary measures to combat COVID-19 are applied in the fair's venue.
