CAIRO –9 June 2017: The producers of Syrian series “Shouq,” Iyad Al-Khzouz and Yasser Fahmi, issued an official statement declaring their support for the boycott of Qatar, as a result they took a decision to stop handing over the rest of the series to any of the Qatari channels.

“Based on our strong belief in the role of art and its lofty mission and in line with Arab solidarity and Arab unity principles, and that our work in art aims to deepen and strengthen the relations of the Arab nations together, and in line with the Arab stances represented by United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and several Arab and Islamic countries, we announce the withdrawal of "Shouq" soap opera from the Qatari channels,’’ this was part of the official statement issued by Al-Khazouz and Fahmi.

The statement added: "We demand the Qatari channels to stop airing "Shouq " soap opera and from our side we will stop sending the rest of the episodes. We took this decision to emphasize our harmony with the rules of Arab joint work. We insist on our commitment to our role to make art for life and the future. For enlightenment and free thought, we cannot deal with parties that are working to destroy the Arab participants, contribute to support terrorism and coordinate with the enemies of the Arab nation.

Therefore we ask the Qatari channels to stop broadcasting the Bedouin series immediately, and we give up all our financial rights as producers of this series.”

“Shouq” producers presented last year "Samarkand" series, which has achieved great success on the Arab level. “Shouq” series starring Margo Haddad, Yasser al-Masri, Rashid Malhas, and Akef Najm, and Gress Kabili, Ahmed Sorour, Mohammed Al-Majali, Hisham Hamada, Amel Al-Dabbas and Samira Al-Asir. The series is written by Mohammed Al-Batush and directed by Mohamed Lotfy.
