CAIRO – 18 December 2018: Assistant of the Minister of Antiquities for Technical Affairs Mustafa Amin participated on Dec.18 in launching the annual international conference of Ain Shams University's Center for Papyrus and Inscriptions.

The conference is titled "Medicine and Pharmacy in Egypt and the Near East from Ancient Times to the Early Islamic Era" and is organized by the center in cooperation with the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center.

Amin commented that the theme of the current conference comes in line with Egypt's progressive steps in the field of health care, enhancing the value of medicine and pharmaceutical sciences.

Amin described the history of medicine and pharmacy in Egypt as a “long and great” history. The ancient Egyptian medicine includes many significant papyri that illustrate the distinction of the ancient Egyptian doctor in dealing with many diseases and in manufacturing medications.

As a specialized center in the ancient Egyptian text, the Center for Papyrus and Inscriptions plays a significant role in the field of scientific research locally and internationally, according to Amin.
