CAIRO – 7 September 2018: Kuwait Theatre Group, cast of the play “Sada el-Samt” (Echoes of the Silence), is expected to fly to Cairo on September 9 to participate in the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre that will be held from September 10-20, 2018.

Director of the play, Faisal al-omairi, stressed the importance of the festival as a platform for new theatrical experiences and a chance for Arab countries to participate and get exposed to new international theatrical creativity.

Omairi also highlighted the important role Cairo plays in hosting musical festivals that allow exchange of knowledge among enthusiasts and pioneers in the music industry.

The director further stated that Kuwait is going to participate in the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre after a hiatus of several years. “Sada el-Samt” is going to be the play that brings Kuwait back to the theatrical scene this year. The play was previously awarded Al-Qasmi award in the Arab Theatre Festival which adds to its artistic value.

“Sada el-Samt” is written by late Iraqi writer Qassim Matrood and stars Samah, Abdallah al-Turcomany and Ali al-Husseini.

The play revolves around two men who fled their countries in an attempt to escape the civil war that left the country in total devastation. The men befriend each other and begin to recall the sad memories of war back in their beloved homes even though they do not know how to speak each other's language.
