CAIRO- 6 Aug 2018: Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem said on Monday that a 500-year-old manuscript by Mohiuddin Al Kafiji was restored from London.

At a press conference, the minister lauded cooperation of the Foreign Ministry and the Egyptian National Library and Archives in stopping the sale of the ancient Islamic manuscript in London and bringing it back to Egypt.

The manuscript entitled "A Summary in History Science" by Mohammed bin Sulaiman Masood Al Kafiji known as Mohiuddin Al Kafiji, belongs to the Egyptian National Library and Archives but was lost in the seventies of the last century.

The minister said the Egyptian National Library and Archives addressed the auction house in London to stop the sale of the manuscript and presented necessary documents proving its ownership of the rare manuscript.

The London auction house handed over the manuscript to Chairman of the national library Hisham Azmi on July 13.

Al Kafiji was born in the country of Srokhan from Diyar Ibn Uthman in 788 AH, and then went to the land of Ajam.

After that, he traveled to Jerusalem and then to Cairo.
