CAIRO – 25 July 2018: The ensemble Cairo Impro, formed by Egyptian composer Bahaa El-Ansari and Cairo-based Polish guitarist Paweł Kuźm, will perform on Thursday a concert at the French Institute.

Established in 2017, the seven-member Cairo Impro relies on the free improvisation, making music on the spot and letting musicians do whatever they want regardless of any rule.

The high-level experts in the free improvisation, el-Ansary and Kuźma, gave several free improvisation concerts and workshops in Cairo to educate both musicians and audience in Egypt about Free Improvisation, which is not well known yet in Egypt.

El-Ansari, born in 1991, studied composition at the Academy of Arts in Cairo under Ezz El-Din Slim. In 2012, he participated in the 46th International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt, Germany, which serves as a hub for interesting, future-oriented artistic concepts and contributions to the development of contemporary music, besides other prestigious international festivals and venues.

“As a scholar from Institute Français d’Egypte he studied at Conservatoire de Bordeaux (2013-2014) under Jean-Louis Agobet, and Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt (2014-2015) under Jean-Luc Hervé,” Cairo Impro’s official Facebook page states.

At the same time, the classical Polish guitarist Kuźma is an adjacent professor at The American University in Cairo where he teaches World Music and private applied guitar.
