Ministry of Culture interferes to solve Karma’s issue

CAIRO – 13 June 2018: Ministry of Culture intervened to solve the issue of the movie "Karma", as the permits of the film were withdrawn.

Sources from the ministry confirmed that Enas Abdel Dayem, minister of culture, held a meeting with Dr. Khaled Abdul Jalil, head of the General Authority for Censorship of Works of Arts to solve the movie’s problem. Abdel Dayem stressed on the freedom of creativity and expression and refused the prevention of art works from being performed or screened.

Egyptian director Khaled Youssef, director of the movie Karma, said on his Facebook page that the film will be screened in cinemas during Eid Al Fitr and without censorship.

This decision came a day after the censorship authorities cancelled its screening.



“Karma” revolves around two people who never cross paths, but have common life circumstances.

The film’s stars Amr Saad, Zeina, Ghada Abdel Razek, Suheir el Ghadban, Khaled el Sawy, Wafaa Amer, Maged el Masry, Dalal Abdel Aziz, Magdy Kamel, Ehab Fahmy, Mostafa Darwish, Hassan Harb and the young child, Birla. The movie is directed and written by Khaled Youssef.
