CAIRO – 15 May 2017: Drama therapy is not a modern method for mental health, but rather it is known long ago. The use of theatre techniques in healing is to facilitate personal growth and promote mental health.

Therefore, a non-governmental Egyptian association called Blue Lotus Wellbeing created an event on Facebook to encourage people to partake and know more about this kind of therapy.

Blue Lotus presents learning about the methodologies of healing through practicing many different activities such as: life coaching, and physical, emotional and spiritual detox programs that include healthy food, meditation and yoga.

Meanwhile, the association invited people via a Facebook event to an introductory day for using drama for healing and self-exploration. Through the activities Blue Lotus will introduce, one could discover himself/herself in all its aspects and reconsider the way he/she deals with it and with others. This will happen through acting, singing, etc.

The page clarified benefits of the upcoming workshop of drama therapy as it targets awakening aliveness and regaining psychological, social and spiritual health. It may help to resist diseases, get over crises, traumas and deal with stresses and fears.

The event description explained that drama is a term from a Greek word meaning "action" which is derived from "to do,” adding that it is a modern approach in training, education and psychotherapy. Moreover, using drama in training is about acting real-life situations from the participants' lives which further helps them to react more maturely to situations and challenges.

The workshop is scheduled on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs 100 EGP.
