CAIRO – 20 December 2017: The veteran six-member oriental jazz band “Eftekasat” has carried out a jazz fusion concert of songs from their two studio albums at “3elbt Alwan” earlier this week .

Despite the idea of “Efteksat” (Random) began in 1992, the band itself was founded in 2001 and are comprised of Samer George on bass, Amr Salah on keyboard, Sherif Alaa on guitar, Hany Bedair on tabla, Ahmed Hesham on drums, and main vocalist Mohamed Aly on violin.

Eftekasat’s debut performance took place in 2002 at the Cairo Jazz Club and has later carried out performances at other venues across the country as well as internationally. They have participated in a number of musical festivals throughout their career including the recent Cairo Jazz Festival in 2017, the Festival of Jordan in 2009, and the San Jose 19th Jazz Festival in the U.S in 2008.

The band described their musical style as being a combination of a number of musical sounds and styles. They use Arab rhythms and themes fused with jazz, rock, and Latin to create an oriental music fusion experience.

“3elbt Alwan” is an art and working space in Maadi. The venue hosts art and antiquities exhibitions and galleries as well as musical performances.
