Bokova, who was accompanied by Minister of State of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany and Luxor Governor Mohammed Sayed Badr, expressed her admiration of the work accomplished so far and said Egyptian workers are highly experienced.

According to Moustafa Waziri, the general director of Luxor monuments, the process started in November, after both the governor and the minister of antiquities approved the restoration of the statue destroyed in the fourth century A.D.

Waziri said the work is continuing day and night to finish the "huge" project that will change the front look of the Luxor Temple, Youm7 reported.

The completion of the 10.8-meter-tall statue is expected in the next few months.
