CAIRO – 31 October 2017: Sharara Ensemble will perform on November 8 as part of the 26th Arab Music Festival.

During the concert, the band will perform a collection of famous heritage songs, in addition to the great Atiya Sharara’s masterpieces, which he composed throughout his long artistic career such as “Bent el Nile” (The Daughter of Nile), “Toha,” “Moseqa el Zafa” (Wedding Music) and “Samba Sharara,” among others.

Sharara began making music in 1948, composing a group of traditional pieces with a single melody. They were widely spread through the radio.

The 26th Arab Music Festival's management chose “Musical Drama” to be the main theme of the opening ceremony of the festival. The opening ceremony will shed light on the role of oriental music in Egyptian and Arab drama. An orchestra specially formed for this occasion, led by Ahmed Atef and accompanied by head of the Cairo Opera House Inas Abdel Dayem, will perform in the ceremony.

Abdel Dayem has accepted the three categories of the festival’s competition. The festival is taking place from November 1 to 15 at the Cairo Opera House.
