CAIRO - 21 October- 2017: Three Egyptian movies will participate in the 28th edition of the Carthage International Film Festival that will kick off from November 4-11.

The participating Egyptian movies are “Sheikh Jackson”, “Akhdar Yabes” (Withered Green), and “Balad Meen” ( Whose Country?). The Carthage International Film Festival management has chosen “Ketaba ala Thalg” (Writing on Snow) to be the opening film of the 28th edition of the festival.

“Ketaba ala Thalg” is an attempt to deal with ideological, political and geographic divisions in Palestine and the Arab world through portraying people who believe they know the truth, rejecting the idea of coexistence despite the difference.

These characters believe that coexistence would neutralize all segments of society with their ideological differences into one segment with one ideology, and that ideology being the one suitable for achieving their desired gains.

The film was directed by Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi and stars actors and actresses from different Arab countries, such as famous Egyptian actor Amr Waked, veteran Syrian actor Ghassan Massoud, Palestinian actress Areen Omari, Palestinian actor Ramzi Maqdisi, Lebanese actress Yomna Marwan and others.

The Tunisian festival was launched for the first time in 1966 and is considered to be one of the oldest festivals in Africa.
