Defense Attorney Shigemori (Masaharu Fukuyama) begins to suspect that his client, long-time criminal Misumi (Kôji Yakusho), might not be completely telling the truth after he turns himself in for murder. Misumi keeps changing his story, obscuring the truth. Seeking answers, Shigemori finds himself down a rabbit hole leading to a complicated web of lies, at the heart of which lies a criminal conspiracy.

More than just an elaborate murder mystery, “The Third Murder” delves right into the heart of what justice truly is, and how we can ever really know the truth.

“The Third Murder” opened in Japan on September 9, 2017.
