CAIRO - 13 August 2017: Omar Robert Hamilton will be reading from his book ‘The City Always Wins’ at Netherlands- Flemish Institute in Cairo on September 21.

‘The City Always Wins’ has just been released on June 2017. Hamilton’s debut novel captures the strength of the 2011 Egyptian revolution. The novel recaps a time when everyone was expecting so much.

The award-winning author and filmmaker has previously written for The Guardian, London Review of Books, Mada Masr English and Guernica. Hamilton is also the co-founder of the Palestine Festival of Literature and the Mosereen media collective in Cairo.
In 2013, his film ‘Though I Knew the River is Dry’ won three awards including Prix UIP Rotterdam in 2013, and Best Short Film from the Arab World in Abu Dhabi in 2013, and Best Short Film in Yerevan in 2014.
