CAIRO – 1 August 2017: First exhibition hall in Al-Atony Museum in Al-Minya governorate is expected to be launched soon along with the museum that will be inaugurated in the upcoming period according to a released statement by the Ministry of Antiquities on Tuesday.

Egyptian construction company Arab Contractors is currently finalizing the exhibition hall. The construction in the museum has commenced in 2002 over three phases and the basic foundations were finalized in 2010. Construction has later been delayed due to obstacles with the budget provided by the Ministry of Antiquities; however has commenced again in 2015.

Al-Atony Museum is designed in a pyramid shape spanning over 25 feddans, located on the Nile and comprises of 16 exhibition halls that depicts the history of Minya governorate over the ages of Egyptian history.

Some of the exhibition halls include looted antiquities and artifacts as well as cinema, theater, and conference halls that could accommodate 800 individuals. It also includes a library, 19 bazaars, and five artificial lakes overlooking the Nile.

The project also includes services to be provided for visitors through cafeterias, office building, and centers of reviving culture heritage and training workers.
